  1. Mar 31,  · Perhaps the most singular collection of noteworthy “new wave” acts can be found on Urgh! A Music War, a movie that was comprised of performances from the likes of The Police, Devo, Oingo Boingo, Joan Jett, Pere Ubu and others. The accompanying soundtrack album is amazingly solid and, despite the diversity on display here, not at all lacking.
  2. "Enola Gay" is an anti-war song by the British synth-pop group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) and the only single from the band's album Organisation. The track addresses the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on 6 August , toward the conclusion of World War II. It was written by vocalist/bass guitarist Andy McCluskey.
  3. Birdies [Urgh! A Music War] Lyrics: I gotta get holda myself / I gotta pull myself up by my socks / I gotta grab myself by the collar and shake! / The birdies are singing / The birdies are saying.

  6. The Urgh!A Music War movie was one of the landmark new wave/post-punk films, and its makers did a fine job of capturing a specific era in music. Unlike the also great but much more punk-oriented The Decline of Western Civilization movie, Urgh dispensed with interviews and focused just on performances, so they were able to include a lot more groups in the process.
  7. It was released back in , when I was first getting my feet wet in British and American post-punk music. The film itself is great, showcasing a variety of acts all under the loose umbrella of "New Wave" from the power-pop of the Police, the Go-Go's, and XTC, to the electro musings of Gary Numan, and the totally uncatagorizable, sadly missed /5(11).
